Rehabilitation Education, and Coping Series
The Rehabilitation Education, and Coping Series is a collection of brief educational leaflets that address a range of topics relevant to the field of rehabilitation psychology. Topic areas include an explanation common secondary symptoms, impacting relationship issues, the influence of negative cognitions on the recovery process, and work-related issues.
Patients most likely to benefit from the series are those who suffer from chronic pain conditions or mild to moderate brain injury, as well as those who have been in motor vehicle accidents, receive workers compensation, long term disability and those who are part of the general rehabilitation population.
The philosophical approach of the material is to support active rehabilitation through understanding, removal of fears, healthy lifestyle management, and coping skills development. The coping approach is meant to convey the notion of living, as active and as meaningful a lifestyle as possible, despite the ongoing symptoms.
Written in an easy-to-read style with non technical language, the series of leaflets is meant to supplement interdisciplinary or psychological treatment.
